Mission Statement

Ke Ala Nuʻukia

To, whenever possible, enable the existence of a world that we all actually want to live in.
The Orange Juice Public Library, which is public, not in the sense of being accountable to an oppressive government bureaucracy (although, as long as the police are free to roam the streets and do what they please without fear of repercussions, it is this also), but in the sense of being (hopefully) accessible to its imagined communities. The library aims to be ethically sourced, free, and aware of place. Ideally, it will be able to function as a model whose useful bits are exportable to other instances and fields, adaptable to specific material realities. Its broad mission is to, whenever possible, enable the being of a world that we all want to live in. In this sense, it exists to meet the needs of its community (however it might adapt).

Vision

Our vision is a little clouded, still. Sometimes we dream of futures so sweet. We swing for the fences, always, whenever, when you least expect it. The future is what it is. Our working hypothesis is that everything works out exactly according to our plans. This is the star that illuminates our path.

• Prisons are bad and should not exist in this world.
• The U.S. empire will one day cease to exist.
• We should stop recreating structures that we would rather see dismantled.
• Nothing is impossible.
• We do not actually, technically, exist. (we are completely imaginary)
